Complete cardiosurgical implantation of biventricular defibrillator - an interdisciplinary cooperation of a cardiosurgeon and an arrhythmologist

We report the case of a patient indicated for cardiac resynchronization therapy. Previous implantations and postoperative complications made an intravasal access contraindicated. Thus, complete epicardiac implantation of electrodes was performed surgically through sternotomy, and a biventricular defibrillator was placed in the abdominal wall. AO osteosynthesis of sternum was then applied in the treatment of mechanical sternal dehiscence.
