The differential diagnosis of chest pain is one of the most common problems faced by physicians of emergency medical
service and outpatient departments of internal medicine and neurology.
The paper is the case report of a 31-year-old man with a post-traumatic mediastinal cyst diagnosed at the Department of Medicine of the Brno-based Military Hospital and subsequently removed during scheduled on-pump surgery in the Cardiovascular and Transplant Surgery Center. Postoperative complications are also briefly mentioned.
