Thrombolytic therapy in acute pulmonary embolism

Acute pulmonary embolism is a relatively frequent condition with a variable clinical course. The authors discuss in detail the current indications for thrombolytic therapy in patients with this condition and the relevance of risk stratification, which should play the pivotal role in future therapeutic decision-making.
