Non-ST-elevation acute coronary syndrome is a serious cardiovascular disease with an adverse impact on short and long-term mortality and morbidity, with a 10-15% risk of death or non-fatal myocardial infarction. The body of knowledge about its pathophysiology is continuously increasing, and the data available are crucial for more precise risk stratification of the patients. Actually, the most important is the combination of clinical and laboratory risks. The Czech Republic has developed one of the best systems of acute care for the patients with acute coronary syndrome worldwide. To maintain this trend, it is necessary to translate the latest diagnostic and therapeutic knowledge into daily practice.
